Domestic Violence Related Assault Charges Withdrawn

RELATED TO: Assault Charges
CRIMINAL CASE

Here is yet another example of Sydney Criminal Lawyers® getting ‘domestic violence related’ assault charges dropped:

All assault charges (dv related) have been withdrawn against our 48 year old client from Dulwich Hill who was charged with repeatedly slapping and punching his 17 year old daughter at the family home.

Our client saw numerous defence lawyers before us who each advised him that:

  • domestic violence-related charges cannot be withdrawn because it is against police policy, and
  • he would either have to plead ‘guilty’ or the case would go to a defended hearing.

Our defence team quickly identified the unreliability of the allegations and wrote a detailed letter to the Local Area Commander of Police formally requesting withdrawal.

Police were also advised that an application would be made for our client’s legal costs if they continued with the case.

The case was then dropped and our client avoids the stress of a defended hearing – not to mention the family turmoil.

Our criminal defence team regularly succeeds in having ‘dv related cases’ like this withdrawn at an early stage.
