Disqualification from Civic Office

Section 249H of the Crimes Act 1900 provides that a person convicted of corruptly receiving a commission under Part 4A of the Crimes Act 1900, being sections 249B to 249F must be disqualified from holding civic office under the Local Government Act 1993 for a period of 7 years from the date of the conviction, unless a court orders a shorter period.

An application can be made to a court on any date after the conviction to reduce the period of disqualification.
