Three Year Anniversary of Ongoing Gaza Genocide

Thousands gathered on Gadigal land in Sydney’s Hyde Park North on Sunday, 11 October 2026, to mark three years of the continuing genocide in Gaza. Those present collectively agreed with Greens Senator Dr Mehreen Faruqi’s sentiment when she said she’s no longer the same after having witnessed three years of livestreamed mass murder and starvation in Gaza.

The crowd too nodded in agreement when New South Wales Socialists candidate for Auburn Jasmine Al-Rawi said there was a generation of Australians who would never trust Labor again.

Another theme that carried across multiple speakers on the sunny afternoon was the fact that Australian authorities have attempted to silence and smear the local Palestine solidarity movement repeatedly over the past three years. This has included passing unconstitutional laws, setting the police upon it with unbridled force and suggesting it contributed to the Bondi Beach massacre.

Those gathered in the park too understood that this repression is partly because the movement for Palestine in Australia is causing headaches in Tel Aviv. And even with all these attempts to silence it, the crowd further agreed that the movement is stronger than ever.

Sydney Criminal Lawyers was on the ground to say three years too long.
